as a follow up to my last nerdy post i proclaim that i've been out being social.




of course this ended up with me being mindraped by traditional norwegian folk-wear and with frozen hair.





also, dukesnorre may or may not have exposed me to compounds such as electrolytes, mucus, antibacterial compounds, and various enzymes.
(but we can be sure of the fact that he exposed me to some painfully dry jokes)

I hung out with dukesnorre this weekend and got a taste of what I'd call real beer (with some people at a microbrewery in Oslo) and it was pretty sweet.

So since I realized beer was actually made of stuff other than water and reindeer urine (thank you mack), I've been wiking the ingredients. 1/3 is hops (humulus ja HUMLE) and I learn cool things:

- hops is in the Cannabaceae family, the same family as cannabis.
- hops has 4 essential oils, some which are thought to have effects on the body. I eat this stuff up so follow the cut to read stuff on essential oils.

I still haven't figured out if it's realistic that the amount of hops ending up in beer has enough oils to have any interaction with our systems at all. I think most of it evaporates. Still, hops is weed's frumpy grandmother.

Eating cold tofu wrapped in pickled cucumber over the sink after a really good running session, and it hit me that today was the first day I've really been disgusted by fresh meat.

( does the psychology of vegetarians interest you? )

While I do care about animals and ethics and morals, I rarely tie that into my diet or what other people eat. But man, I really don't like chunks of raw oozing meat unless it's on some creature who's going to the hospital to be all fixed up to get out of the styrofoam wrap alive.

I've just flipped a bigger chunk of my savings account into an emergency-vet-care+food account for my cats' life in Sandefjord.
They're coming by plane tomorrow.

He was still drugged and sad here. I hear he's mrring about looking for food as usual now.

I've read about anoxia (lack of oxygen) in frog brains.
Who would have known that knowledge about the frog brain's response to oxygen deprivation can have important clinical significance!
